Best method to keep your potatoes fresh:
- Remove from the plastic bag and dry them out before storing. Storing damp potatoes will cause them to sprout faster and rot easily.
- Store in a basket, brown paper bag or a breathable cotton storage bag. (Psst….try storing in your pre-loved pillowcase made from cotton.)
- Keep them in a dark and cool closet. However, it’s best to store them away from the kitchen heat. So, keep them away from the stove.
According to lifehacker.com, storing your potatoes with an apple can keep it fresh longer. It is said that potatoes stored together with an apple stayed firm and sprout-free even after eight weeks!
