The Big Tip
Believe it or not, there
is a shade of red lipstick for every woman.
The trick is in knowing how to apply it.
SIMPLY
RED Most women assume that they can’t
get away with classic red lipstick. In truth,
the trick lies in finding the right shade of
red. Ask for help at a cosmetics counter as
all good brands carry a range of reds suitable
for a variety of skin colours. The fainted-hearted
might want to ease into red by mixing a shade
of red with plums or brown for a subtle effect.
Remember that saturated hues work best in cream
or satin formulas, not matte. To strike a balance,
keep eyes very light-skip eyeliner, use barely-there
eyeshadow. To prevent lipstick from bleeding,
fill in lips with a lip liner first. Never apply
red lipstick directly from the tube as the colour
will be too intense and will flake off as the
day wears on. Use a lip brush, applying from
centre out. A thin wash of colour is all you
really need for the perfect red pout.
