COFFEE BEEF RIB Preparation
time: 10 minutes. Cooking time: 20 minutes. Serves:
4 people.
Optional: Reserve the short beef ribs from your local butcher. Alternatively, use any cut of meat still on the bone (e.g. shank, long ribs) or ribeye slices to roast.
8 short beef ribs
(approximately 2.2kg)
4 tbsp golden syrup
2 tsp instant coffee powder
2 tbsp Worchester sauce
1 tbsp thick black soy sauce
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp Tabasco sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup of cooking oil
1. Clean ribs and remove any
silvery sinew covering the ribs
as otherwise when cooked,
the sinew shrinks and makes
the meat tough to eat. Cut
the meat into individual
portions and set aside.
2. Mix the rest of the
ingredients (except the oil)
together into a thick paste
and leave the meat to
marinate for at least two
hours (preferably overnight).
3. Preheat oven to 190°C and
place the ribs in a single layer
in an oven tray. Drizzle
cooking oil over the ribs. Cook
the ribs for approximately 20
minutes and baste at least
once during cooking. Serve
immediately.
